I started drawing this picture 2 days ago and finally got it finished. Yay for free physics lessons and lunchtimes inside.
I really like how the face/hair turned out on this one. It captures the look I was going for quite well. Definately Megatokyo inspired, I had several of Piro’s pictures tiled on screen as I started to draw this. Its almost a take on “Sad girl in snow”. I think I’m slowly learning how to draw hair that looks good: its not about having lots of thin strands as opposed to thick chunks, its about having strands that overlap and stuff. This gives it a much more 3D and less mathmatical look. Hair shouldn’t look like it was planned too much.
The folds on the skirt look pretty good too I think. I had intended to have stripes going down the skirt but by the time I got to shading it I couldn’t be bothered. XD
I should have angled the hands better (particularly the one on the left xD) but I was happy enough at the time to have actually drawn a semi-decent looking hand, even if it is out of place >.<; .
This picture actually looks pretty weird if you take the fire out. I drew the fire in just at the very end after I’d finished the rest of the picture, and everyone I showed it to before that asked what she was doing in such a weird position with her hands. “Ehhh shes just holding them out for warmth. Theres gonna be a fire over here.” xD
Bleh, the shading looks much better on the paper version. I should really get a better scanner some time. Ah well, this one was free so I wont complain too much. xD
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention: she doesn’t have a name yet. Feel free to add suggestions; else maybe she just wont get a name. I can’t really be bothered thinking about one too much.
